Mr Alan Chase, the American promoter heading a syndicate of American business, Chase Syndicate Esperance Plains (Australia) Pty Ltd, applied for land. The syndicate entered into an agreement with the Government to buy 1,500,000 million acres of land at 4 pounds an acre, plus survey fees.
Hunts Cannery (Old Cannery) was built by Hunts Cannery of Albany to process, herring, sardines and salmon. However, it only operated for one year.
